Lake Chicamba is located in the Manica province of Mozambique. It is not far from the Zimbabwe border city of Mutare. The lake, which is an important supplier of hydro electricity in the region, was completed in 1968 and filled in the early 70’s.

With a surface area when full of 160 square kilometres and a capacity of around 2 billion cubic metres this is a seriously big impoundment. Structure is abundant with plenty of standing timber, incoming rivers, coves, granite boulders and “koppies”, river channels and grassy shorelines.

The dam is home to some very large Florida strain Largemouth Bass with fish of over 7 kg having been caught.
