Alet Pretorius

Alet Pretorius – Award winning photojournalist

“Photography broadens my view of the world.  Being a photojournalist, you are put in unfamiliar situations. Recording such events gives you a better understanding of other people, cultures and events.

Seeing the beauty and the ugly of the world makes you appreciate your own life. It makes you tolerant for others’ lives and way of living. We are all connected by a common thread but also individual.

Visual story telling is a very important tool to record history. Pictures evoke emotion and are remembered long after the story is forgotten. ”

BJourn obtained Cum Laude from Rhodes University in 2001 with Journalism and Political Science as main subjects.  I specialized in Photojournalism and Media Ethics.
