Gender-Based Violence Command Centre
The GBV Command Centre was conceptualised, developed and implemented as an initiative of the Department of Social Development. It was done in collaboration with the Vodacom Foundation.
Immediate care and counselling
The GBV Command Centre provides immediate care and counselling. It offers help, hope and the chance of a better life to the thousands of victims of gender-based abuse. Even in the remotest and most underdeveloped corners of South Africa.
Comprehensive and integrated system
The GBV Command Centre is a comprehensive and integrated system that provides immediate, consistent, coordinated and timely support to victims of GBV. The GBV Commnad Centre uses mobile technology to estimate the location of a victim. They assign the closest social worker in the field to the case, and records and receives continuous feedback on the case.
Trained socail workers
The GBV Command Centre employs trained social workers and command centre agents. Thy provide immediate counselling to victime and asist them to avoid or minimise further exposure to GBV.
High level components
The GBV Command Centre uses three high-level component, which are:
- inbound and outbound call management
- incident logging and management on the GBV Command Centre Information System
- mobile workforce manageent on the GBV Mobile Information System used by the social workers in the field. The GBV mobile Information System is integrated with the GBV Command Centre Information System.
The GBV Mobile Information System accommodates in-the-field collection, integration and workflow management with embedded administrative decision support and reporting of the GBV data and information.
